Job Summary
AFC Urgent Care North Bergen is seeking a per diem physician holding current USCIS Civil Surgeon designation to perform immigration medical examinations (Form I-693) on weekends, 2–4 shifts per month. Our center serves one of the most densely immigrant-populated corridors in New Jersey, with strong built-in demand for immigration physicals. You will be supported by a full clinical team managing intake, phlebotomy, vaccine administration, and records — allowing you to focus on examinations and I-693 certification. In addition to immigration medical exams, the physician will provide high-quality urgent care to walk-in patients during scheduled shifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform USCIS immigration medical examinations and complete/certify Form I-693 in accordance with CDC Technical Instructions for Civil Surgeons
- Submit examination data via eMedical as required
- Provide high-quality patient care to urgent care walk-in patients while on shift
- Manage all patient care while on shift
- Supervise all clinical staff while on shift
- Ensure all charts are filled out and medical records are completed in a timely fashion
- Process biological specimens when needed
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Current USCIS Civil Surgeon designation required — candidates must be willing to add this AFC location as a practice location with USCIS prior to start date (we will support the administrative process)
- Board Certified/Board Eligible – Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine (with ER or UC experience)
- Active and current New Jersey medical licensure, DEA number, and state-controlled substance certificate, as required
- Familiarity with eMedical electronic submission strongly preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Excellent communicator with staff, patients, and family
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
Schedule & Compensation
- Per diem, weekend coverage: 2–4 shifts per month
- W2 or 1099 — candidate's preference
