Provide a high level of technical support, affecting the reliability and utilization of the University's Multi-Function printers (MFP), and other converged technologies, includingsystems administration level management. This includes the installation, maintenance,troubleshooting, and monitoring of MFP, safety cameras, door access, panic alarms,emergency phones, and other systems.

Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures for computer and communications systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of IP-based Multi-Function devices and their installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of electronics and electronics repair.
  • Working knowledge of systems administration
  • Considerable knowledge of networking and network protocols.
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling systems such as copper, Cat5, Cat6 and coax. 7. Demonstrated ability to interact with contractors and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time and work independently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Level and type of experience

  • Considerable experience with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting andmonitoring of IP-based Multi-Function devices and related infrastructure, such as MFP,safety cameras, door access, panic alarms and emergency phones.
  • Some knowledge of Pharos, PaperCut, or related print administration and management.
  • Considerable experience with networking and communications systems.
  • Previous experience working in a client/server environment working with PC applications, operating systems, multi-functional peripheral devices, high-speed printers, and drivers.
  • Some experience with operating system and application support at the desktop and server levels.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

  • Some experience with Pharos, PaperCut, or related print systems administration, Multi-Function devices, Axis Camera and ipConfigure VMS system.
  • Cisco certified associate, professional or expert level career certifications, such as, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert or equivalent knowledge.

Conditions of Employment

This is a campus-based position in Norfolk, VA with on-call responsibilities, working a typical 40-hour work week. This position supports the football season, so Saturday and evening hours will be required and include compensation. The position will require a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.

This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.

This position is considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ - 57,733
