Field Rig Maintenance Technician
The Rig Maintenance Technician performs critical repairs of the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical rig equipment and systems in the field.
Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Works in a safe, healthy, and environmentally protective manner. • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical equipment and systems. • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs hydraulic equipment and systems. • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment and systems. • Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards. • Assists and performs tasks as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor and rig customers. • Participates in and promotes all company safety programs, processes, and requirements. • Attends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locations. • Performs other duties as directed by management. • Demonstrates willingness and availability to work long hours and weekends when requested on short notice. • Works as a team member with the rest of the Maintenance Group with the goal of minimizing rig downtime and optimizing rig systems performance.
Inspections and Training:
• Inspects Rig equipment to identify and remedy potential issues before they lead to downtime or more costly repairs. • Trains and instructs Rig Crews on Maintenance tasks. • Assists in the training and instruction/skill development of more junior Maintenance Technicians.
Technical Competencies:
• Understands and is capable of reading all safety training requirements and materials. • Understands all major rig components and the necessary maintenance and repairs. • Maintains familiarity with Top Drives, Iron Roughnecks, Iron Derrickman, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Variable Frequency Drives. • Understands three-phase electrical generation controls and power systems. • Understands and works according to knowledge with electrical, hydraulic, and workplace hazards and safety.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to pass a physical-demands test, drug test, and background check.
