The UT GEAR UP Student Data Entry and Collection Intern will play a key role in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support student progress, program outcomes, and resource effectiveness. Designed for students interested in a career in data management and using data to identify problems and find solutions, the Student Intern will assist the GEAR UP Career Success Coach and Program Director.ResponsibilitiesThe Intern will organize data into spreadsheets, primarily using Excel; assist in the data collection process with surveys, reports, student records, and other sources; gather data from students via text message platform and record responses; update and maintain student databases; and help organize contact lists and outreach materials.Assist in analyzing data trends to identify insights about student needs, program effectiveness, and outreach opportunities; support the creation of visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards) using Excel or Google Data Studio; and assist in compiling research reports on college enrollment trends, career resources, and student support programs.Collaborate and support the team with virtual and in-person events such as college prep workshops, career panels, Q&A sessions with college advisors; assist in scheduling meetings between students and the college/career success coach; and participate in events that may be out of town/overnight.Attend check‑ins with the manager to discuss progress and receive feedback; participate in training sessions to enhance advocacy and communication skills; support the identification of in‑kind match opportunities and other supporting documentation; and assist with office tasks such as organizing materials and updating contact lists.Required QualificationsAbility to work well in a team environmentStrong interest and passion for the GEAR UP ProgramAbility to manage outreach initiatives, track progress, and meet deadlinesExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficiency with Excel and Office software such as Google Workspace and Microsoft OfficeUndergraduate student enrolled in a post‑secondary program and of good academic standingAccess to a laptop or desktop computer for content creation, data entry, and remote workAuthorized to work in the U.S.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsCurrent GEAR UP Alumni (GEAR UP High School Gr graduating class of 2023 or 2024)Wage$25.00Working ConditionsUse of manual dexterityRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstationMay work around standard office conditionsWork ShiftWork will be performed in‑person at the IPSI office and remotelyRequired MaterialsResumeLetter of Interest explaining your interest in the role and how you align with UT GEAR UP's missionThree work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorEmployment EligibilityPlease make sure you meet all the required qualifications and can perform all essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.Equal Opportunity EmployerThe University of Texas at Austin, as an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action.
