    Role Description The Utilities Engineer is a full-time, on-site role located in Portland, TN, responsible for overseeing and optimizing municipal utility systems. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring and coordinating water and wastewater treatment operations, ensuring systems meet regulatory and safety standards, and supporting steam and other utility services as needed. The role involves planning and implementing preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and working with operations staff and contractors to improve reliability and efficiency. The Utilities Engineer will also prepare technical documentation, participate in inspections and audits, and provide recommendations for system upgrades and long-term infrastructure planning.\n

    • Candidates should possess skills and experience in utilities operations and management, including familiarity with municipal or industrial utility systems.

    • Candidates should possess skills related to steam systems, including understanding of steam generation, distribution, and safety practices.

    • Candidates should possess skills in wastewater treatment, including process monitoring, regulatory compliance, and optimizing treatment performance.

    • Candidates should possess skills in water treatment, including water quality monitoring, treatment processes, and system operations.
    • \n
    • Candidates should possess skills in preventive maintenance, including planning, scheduling, and documenting maintenance activities for mechanical and electrical equipment.
    • \n
    • Relevant qualifications may include a degree in engineering (civil, environmental, mechanical, or related field) or equivalent technical experience in utilities or plant operations.
    • \n
    • Beneficial skills include knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proficiency with technical software and SCADA systems, and effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • \n
    • Professional certifications in water or wastewater operations, or engineering licensure, are a plus.
