ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
THE ROLE
The Utilities Intern (Inventory Control) will support the Utilities Department's Field Services operations by assisting with day-to-day inventory management activities. This includes monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting regular stock counts, reconciling physical inventory against system records, and updating databases and spreadsheets to reflect stock movements. The intern will assist in tracking incoming and outgoing goods, help with proper storage, labeling, and organization of inventory items, and support efforts to identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock. The role also involves coordinating with warehouse, purchasing, and logistics teams, preparing inventory reports for supervisors and management, and supporting audits and inspections related to inventory control. Beyond the technical work, this internship offers hands-on exposure to municipal utility operations and an opportunity to contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen inventory accuracy and efficiency.
The hourly pay for this position is $15 - $19 (based on education level).
Work Schedule
This position is scheduled to work up to 28 hours weekly between Monday and Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Hours are flexible.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented student currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related field who is comfortable working with data in Excel and takes pride in accuracy. We are looking for someone dependable and organized who communicates clearly, works well in a team setting, and is willing to take direction and ask questions. Experience with inventory software, ERP systems, or intermediate Excel functions like VLOOKUP and PivotTables is a plus, but a strong work ethic and genuine interest in learning warehouse and supply chain operations matter most.
