Job Description:
POSITION: Utilities Operator
HAY LEVEL: $33.35 Hourly
REPORTS TO: Utilities Supervisor
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Utilities Operator maintains the process within operating conditions to ensure that the utilities area provides utilities to all areas of the plant (steam, compressed air, city water, cooling water, demineralized water)
Ensures Dowtherm is provided to the polymer process
Collaborates effectively with CP operations for the Dowtherm system
Performs frequency-based equipment checks, records operational readings, assesses trends and off target readings
Accurately logs environmental compliance data
Makes sure the equipment is properly always maintained and is operational.
Enter SAP notifications when necessary.
Maintains good housekeeping
Works around chemicals
Conducts water treatment testing and adjusts chemicals based on test results
Contacts vendors for chemical deliveries
Performs some mechanical tasks such as valve operation
Maintains calm demeanor during process upsets and power disruptions
Ensures the Utilities area operates efficiently and safely
Job Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Minimum 3 years operations experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be willing to work in all elevations of the plant, in cold and hot environments, and in tight spaces
Must have the ability to operate forklifts, JLG, and vertical lifts
Must have the ability to learn and understand the operation of the Utilities systems (steam, air water, and condensate) to safely and effectively react to process and equipment issues and operational needs
Must be able to maintain electronic and written logs, check sheets, and flow charts for equipment operation
Must have the capability of writing job procedures
Must have the ability to read and understand SDS sheets and how to work with hazardous materials
Must be capable of learning procedures and showing competence through demonstration and testing related to condensate, cooling water, chilled water, Dow heater, and boiler systems
Must be able to pass FCE evaluation
