The foreman is responsible for directing the maintenance, installation, repairs and construction of water, reuse and wastewater lines, services, mains, and appurtenances. They inspect work for progress and for conformance to established standards, regulations and safety practices. The Foreman supervises, motivates and trains crew members, assists in the preparation of performance evaluations, and prepares reports, as-builts and documents as needed. They study work flows and make recommendations for improvements to the manager. The Foreman leads work team in developing and implementing efficiency and increasing quality in operations. They report unusual problems to the manager with possible solutions, assist in developing work plans, and perform inventory operations and the replenishing of tools and supplies. The Foreman is required to regularly work overtime as part of the rotating "on-call" program, which may involve responding to emergencies outside of regular working hours. This is an essential position; the incumbent will be required to work extended hours during and after hurricanes or other disasters. The Foreman works proactively and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers. They follow safety procedures and promote a safe work environment. A strong understanding of ethical behavior is required. The Foreman needs to have an intellectual curiosity and a desire to find answers. They perform related work as needed.
