    Language Skills:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization

    Math Skills:

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

    Reasoning Ability:

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
    • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk and occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.

    The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near safety guarded moving mechanical parts; indoors in a semi-climate controlled environment; in elevated/high places (elevated catwalk); in outside weather conditions; and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, petroleum products, petroleum products, winter and summer temperatures while performing work outside, and vibration.

    The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud (hearing protected provided for louder environments).

    Responsibilities for the Utility 2 position include, but are not limited to:

    Load railcars and trucks with various materials. Fill coal hopper. General plant labor and clean up of production areas; observe, monitor and report any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularity; being trained in various entry-level production positions and fills in as needed during vacation, absences, and increased production demands; perform kiln outage work including refractory; report equipment problems identified to management; complete equipment pre-shift report, if applicable; clean work areas; shovel stone from around conveyors; removal and installation of kiln refractory; operate small front endloader; replace or assist other workers as needed or directed; and other duties as assigned by management.
