Position Type: Permanent Full Time/Part Time: Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$23.86 to $26.25 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Performs experienced technical work inspecting utility construction projects to observe and document whether contractors perform all work in accordance with the Department Criteria, the approved project drawings, and the specifications.

REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years [60 semester or 90 quarter hours] of college-level credit with major coursework in Construction Management, or a closely related field PLUS three (3) years of utility construction experience; OR High school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), PLUS five (5) years of field experience in utility construction, maintenance, and/or inspection work. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of employment, a current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must complete all of the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees classes within nine (9) months of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, man-made or natural disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
