Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Assistant Utility Craftsworker Superintendent, Water Resources supervises maintenance workers engaged in civil maintenance on the State Water Project. The incumbent supervises and assists in the construction, repair and maintenance of facilities such as dams, bridges, levees, weirs, bulkheads, pipelines, canals, reservoirs, check headgates and other similar hydraulic structures.

Special Requirements

Must have a valid California Class C license as incumbent will be required to operate automotive vehicles on public roadways as travel to remote areas within the field division is necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Incumbents maintaining a Commercial Class A California Driver's License are subject to Federal DOT alcohol and substance abuse testing requirements (including random testing) as set forth in Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job.

• Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and resources are available to get work done.
• Experience with Excel, Word, SharePoint, System Applications (SAP) and/or Data Processing Systems.
• Experience evaluating staff performance.
• Experience assigning, directing, and ensuring completion of work.
• Experience assigning tasks and/or coordinating jobs with contractors.

The successful candidate should have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, maintain consistent and reliable attendance, and have excellent judgment. They should also be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and work proactively to analyze situations and take effective action to complete projects on time and within budget.
