Summary
Utilities Crew Leader, under the general supervision of the Foreman, leads the field work of utility crews; completes utility crew paperwork; operates heavy equipment; installs, maintains, and repairs water & wastewater infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides supervision and training for assigned crew members
- Plans, coordinates, and orders the necessary parts, supplies, and equipment for assigned work orders
- Inspects all equipment before use and reports problems to supervisor or to fleet maintenance
- Ensures that all safety policies are adhered to, safety equipment inspected and used, and that PPE is properly utilized
- Prepares work orders, documenting parts, hours, equipment used and all other pertinent data in the work order management system
- Performs all duties of a Utility Technician as needed
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of in utilities or related field
- Demonstrated leadership skills
Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement upon hire or advancement
- TCEQ License C Water and Collection II upon hire.
- Equipment Preventative Maintenance (8 hours) within one (1) year of hire / advancement
- Work Traffic Control / Qualified Flagger (16 hours) within one (1) year of hire / advancement
