Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Utility Custodian keeps the college buildings in a clean and sanitary condition. Creates and maintains safe, clean, and inviting campuses for students, employees and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of work experience in cleaning and/or custodial services.
• Good working knowledge of housekeeping and general maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

• Two (2) years of work experience in cleaning and/or custodial services.

Essential Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following along with other duties as needed.

• Check, restock, and clean restrooms.
• Sweep, scrub, mop and spot clean.
• Use emergency clean-up kits to clean up bodily fluids as needed.
• Clean lobbies, lounges, corridors, elevators, stairways, classrooms.
• Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture.
• Dust furniture. Clean walls (wallpaper and painted), ceiling, and woodwork. Wash windows, door panels, and thresholds.
• Empty wastebaskets.
• Keep outside entrances clean (remove leaves and dirt, clean windows, remove trash and debris).
• Transport trash and waste to disposal area.
• Unstop toilets and water fountains and perform minor plumbing procedures.
• Spread ice melt and remove snow, as needed.
• Maintain cleaning equipment, supplies, & products
• Be willing to adapt to the needs of the college.
• Basic computer knowledge to complete training, work orders, etc.
• Uniform and personal appearance kept clean and professional.
• Meet the required standards of the college and within the set time limits.
• Ensure security of assigned master key
• Attend specialized training activities that enhance performance.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Other duties as assigned.
