Responsible for planning, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater utility projects as well as providing technical support for Operations as needed. Also responsible for utility asset (plant and piping) management program and related systems under the supervision of the VP of Engineering. Estimated 50% split between engineering/construction support and asset management duties.Work location and scheduleThe Utility Engineer will be based in Fairbanks, AK . Schedule is Monday through Friday. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required.What You'll DoThe Utility Engineer will do the following:Providing timely engineering support to internal and external customers.Supporting the utility asset management program.Ensuring safe work practices at all times.Project management including evaluation of design, workmanship, and cost control. Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Select and specify materials and equipment for projects. Plan for and review updates to construction standards.Basic engineering analysis of piping and hydraulic systems, water/wastewater treatment process.Conduct field inspections and troubleshoot construction project issues on site.Responding to requests for technical assistance from operations.Support administration of the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) including asset additions and associated tasks, system improvements and optimizations, PM generation and reporting.Maintain the Capital Equipment/Asset Repair & Replacement database.Support internal GIS database updates and maintenance.What You'll BringExperienceA minimum of two years of field and office experience in a water and wastewater utility or other industrial environment.Education, Certifications, and LicensesBachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental EngineeringValid AK Driver's LicenseNice to HaveProject management experience is an asset.Preferred: Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure is an asset.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesA strong commitment to safety.A strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles and techniquesResult-focused, detail-oriented, customer-centric and self-motivated individualGood verbal and written communication ability.
