Utility Locate Technician $24.00-$30.00/hr Abilene, Texas

ELM Technicians are essential in their communities, ensuring that gas, electric, and communication systems are dependable and well-maintained. They perform high-quality utility marking to avoid damage during excavation of these vital facilities. Our technicians use the advanced LaunchPoint software system, which incorporates the latest technology to create efficiencies. Starting wages for this position will be $24.00-$30.00, depending on experience.

Your specific duties in this role will include, but not limited to:

• Verifying previous marking for high-profile underground gas utilities

• Completing all necessary paperwork

• Maintaining daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners and contractors, discussing locate issues

• Receiving daily jobs via computer/device

• Prioritizing your daily work by going through all locate requests to determine routing

• Reading and understanding utility-provided maps to assist in identification of underground utilities

• Ensuring that clients and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due to mis-located utilities

• Monitoring active excavations near high-profile gas facilities and ensuring safe practices are used

• Inspecting exposed gas facilities for damage

• Must be able to work on-call rotation and overtime as needed. This may include working on nights and weekends when necessary

 
Specific qualifications for the position include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• At least 90 days of proven, gas locating experience is required.

• Valid driver’s license with a good motor vehicle record
