Utility Mechanic/Plumber (FT40)

Maryland Masonic Homes a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cockeysville, Maryland has a immediate opening for a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Plumber.

Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water
heaters, piping, valves, and fixtures.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and plumbing emergencies, ensuring
minimal disruption to residents.
• Inspect and test plumbing systems for safety and efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance to avoid plumbing issues and system failures.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when specialized plumbing services
are required.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
• Ensure compliance with state and local plumbing codes and health and safety
regulations.
• Communicate effectively with residents and staff, demonstrating patience, respect, and
professionalism. Other duties as assigned.
• Must be available for the on call and weekend rotation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED; vocational training or apprenticeship in plumbing preferred.
• Valid plumbing license or certification as required by state or local law.
• Minimum 3 years of plumbing experience, preferably in a healthcare or senior living
environment.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with elderly individuals.
• Ability to pass background checks and health screenings.
• Experience working in retirement facilities, hospitals, or similar residential environments.
• Knowledge of ADA plumbing compliance and accessibility standards.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to
function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50
pounds.
• Must be able to work outside during inclement weather.
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
• Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
• Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at
times, hostile people within the facility.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week & week-end rotation) with benefits to include: medical, dental & vision insurance, short & long term disability, $25,000 life insurance, 401(k) Plan with matching contributions, PTO and Sick Hours (based on the Maryland Sick & Safe Law), paid holidays

Compensation is based on experience.
