Utility Pipe Layer
Performs and undertakes a variety of broad to specific fleet repairs, maintenance, and upkeep of work assignments. The positions essential duties are:
• Application of general knowledge of pipe laying methods, practices, and procedures. • Performs basic activities involving the service, installation, modification and repair of water/wastewater distribution equipment and systems. • Locates main and service lines; installs, repairs, and replaces mains and water meters. • Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs failures in water/wastewater mains. • Performs physical construction duties including, but not limited to, digging ditches or trenches, backfilling excavations, compacting, and leveling earth to grade specifications, using picks. • Performs activities related to water/wastewater system maintenance, disinfecting, quality, supply, and production. • Assists sewer Vac-con operator, sewer camera trucks and TMA truck. • Spotter for backhoe and/or excavator. • Operates company vehicle according to established safety procedures.
Subject to recall for emergencies and on call, which may include standby, rotating-duty schedule, weekends and 24-hour emergency call out with little or no notice.
