Job Title: Utility Property Accountant
Hybrid: 80 Park Plaza, Newark, NJ -07102 / WFH
Duration:12 Months

Introduction

This role involves recording, reviewing, and analyzing utility construction and fixed asset transactions to ensure proper GAAP and FERC financial statement recording, reporting, and rate recovery of Property, Plant & Equipment Investments and related accounts.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or CPA designation with a degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Demonstrated accounting skills, PC skills, written and verbal communication skills, and analytical abilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills utilizing V-lookup, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
  • Prior work experience at the client or in the client's industry.

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Utility property accounting knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the Power Plant fixed asset system.
  • CPA and/or advanced degree.
  • SAP experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Process automation experience.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop fixed asset analyses, special reports, and perform General Ledger reconciliation and analysis utilizing the Power Plant Fixed Asset System.
  • Support Utility Finance in developing 5-year plans and annual budgets, including annual depreciation and amortization models.
  • Provide support for regulatory Base Rate Cases, Special Infrastructure, and other regulatory filings as well as ad hoc reports and analyses for internal and external clients.
  • Support all internal and external audit requests and reviews. Develop Power Plant reports and queries.
  • Collaborate with Power Plant Support, IT, and Financial Systems Support to optimize the system and implement system and process improvements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requests and support the Sarbanes Oxley control environment by ensuring proper controls compliance.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and analyses and supporting schedules provided monthly to senior management.
