Job Specifications

Are you a technology leader with a passion for automation, innovation, and critical infrastructure? In this role, you will oversee the Citys SCADA operations, leading a team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the systems that support essential utility services. This position offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, strategic problem-solving, and team leadership to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations that serve our community every day.

What Youll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of the Underground Utilities SCADA network infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of critical utility monitoring and control systems.
  • Oversee SCADA servers, databases, network hardware, cybersecurity measures, backups, disaster recovery processes, and system documentation to support continuous operations and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with utility staff, City departments, vendors, and project teams to assess technology needs, implement innovative solutions, and support the integration of new systems and technologies.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading SCADA network equipment, communication systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and remote monitoring infrastructure.
  • Manage assigned project budgets and resources, ensuring expenditures align with City policies, regulatory requirements, and operational priorities while identifying opportunities for efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, environmental stewardship, and customer service by supporting compliance initiatives, fostering employee development, and ensuring work activities align with City values and organizational goals.

Minimum Training & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in data processing, computer science, mathematics, engineering or a related field; AND
  • Four years of professional and technical experience that includes implementing and supporting data communications networks and operating systems software and hardware;

OR

  • A two year technical school certificate of completion or an associate's degree in fiber optics, computer networks, computers, electronics, electrical engineering technology, computer technology or a related field; AND
  • Six years of technical experience in the installation and maintenance of process control/monitoring systems;

NOTE: One year of the required experience must have been in a lead worker or supervisory capacity.

Salary Range

$29.0888 to $78.9348/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $57.4448/hour

Drivers License Requirements

Must possess a valid Class-E State drivers license at the time of appointment.
