Utility-Scale BESS Field Construction Superintendent

Your day at a glance

Based in the Fort Collins area, CO, you’ll start your morning aligning pre-construction plans with Engineering, Environmental, Legal, Development, and Land teams. Midday might find you in the field validating gen-tie routing assumptions, weighing engineering constraints against environmental sensitivities, and applying value engineering to refine the route. By afternoon, you’ll be on-site overseeing mechanical and electrical installation for a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), coordinating EPC contractors, inspectors, and vendors, and confirming that work meets drawings, specifications, safety protocols, and QA/QC standards. You’ll wrap with a clear brief to leadership on risks, constraints, and mitigation strategies—and line up the next day’s priorities.

What you’ll deliver

• Technical and financial project support, including reviews of contract documents, plant design criteria, drawings, and specifications.
• Pre-construction planning that aligns engineering, environmental, and permitting requirements.
• Budget and schedule insight—identifying cost drivers and potential impacts.
• End-to-end gen-tie and associated infrastructure route development, including field validation and trade-off analyses under uncertainty.
• Value-engineered routing that balances cost, constructability, and environmental considerations.
• Collaborative permitting compliance with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Field leadership for BESS construction, covering mechanical and electrical installation.
• Direct oversight of EPCs and subcontractors for conformance to specs, drawings, safety, and QA/QC.
• Daily coordination across contractors, inspectors, vendors, and partners to keep work moving safely and efficiently.

What you bring

• 6–10 years supporting technical and/or financial aspects of construction projects.
• 3+ years leading contractor oversight and field construction activities.
• Experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or power generation.
• Fluency with routing criteria (cost, engineering limits, environmental constraints) and route optimization/value engineering concepts.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $55-60/hr.
