Overview
The Utility Technician II - Wesley Seale Dam is responsible for performing the essential functions of a Utility Technician II. Under supervision they are to safely perform ground and or mechanical maintenance etc as assigned at the following locations. Wesley Seale Dam Sunrise Beach Rincon Pump Station and three raw water pump stations Beeville Alice and Mathis.
Responsibilities
· Safely performs grounds upkeep by mowing weed trimming tree trimming spraying for weeds and fence repairs at the following locations Wesley Seale Dam Sunrise Beach and Rincon Pump station
· Maintains all grounds keeping equipment such as but not limited to tractors ATVs mowers weed trimmers and chain saws
· Safely performs the following functions welding acetylene torch cutting painting plumbing fabricating and carpentry work at Wesley Seale Dam Sunrise Beach and Rincon Pump Station
· Exercising and lubricating mechanical equipment such as but not limited to pumps actuators butterfly valves sluice gates crest gates and 48 inch cone valves
· Performs regular inspections and assists on repairs or replacement of equipment as needed
· Safely performs regular visual inspections of the following key components like the embankments crest and spillways looking for signs of erosion seepage cracks or any other changes from the last inspection. All inspections are recorded with abnormal conditions reported to supervision
· Must be familiar with water craft since lake side inspections are performed from a boat
· Gathers weather related information from our weather station such as a hook reading to calculate evaporation temperature lake level rainfall and river inflows. Records all information and enters it on an Excel spreadsheet. The information is forwarded and a daily pass-through report is created
· Must be familiar with the Dam Emergency Action Plan and the operating procedures during an emergency
· May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
· Non - Exempt - Full-Time
· Rotating 40-hour work week available to work additional hours as needed
· In the event of an emergency employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications
· High School Diploma GED
· One 1 year of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
· A valid drivers license is required successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas drivers license within 90 days of hire
Required within six 6 months of hire
· TCEQ dam safety certificate
· Parks & Wildlife boat safety license

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests in addition to the panel interview.
