The Wilkes Center for Climate Science & Policy is seeking a student Wilkes Ambassador to represent the Center and help build an engaged campus community. Working approximately 10-15 hours per week, the Ambassador will support outreach, student engagement, events, recruitment, and communications while serving as a welcoming and knowledgeable representative of the Wilkes Center.

This position is ideal for a student who is enthusiastic about climate science, sustainability, leadership, and community engagement. The Ambassador should be reliable, organized, comfortable interacting with a variety of audiences, and excited to help connect students with Wilkes Center programs and opportunities.

Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a student representative and ambassador for the Wilkes Center at campus events and outreach activities.

  2. Assist with planning, promoting, and supporting Wilkes Center programs and student engagement events.

  3. Welcome prospective students, visitors, and event participants while sharing information about Wilkes Center opportunities.

  4. Help recruit students for Wilkes Scholars, Innovation programs, and other Center initiatives.

  5. Assist with event logistics, registration, setup, and participant engagement.

  6. Support communications through social media, photography, or event highlights as needed.

  7. Gather feedback from participants and help identify opportunities to improve programming.

  8. Represent the Wilkes Center professionally and help foster a welcoming community while upholding the mission of the Center and the University.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in climate, sustainability, research, or public service
  • Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently and on a team

Preferences

  • Experience with student organizations, outreach, or event support is preferred but not required

The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
