    Job Description

You are a design leader who builds teams that ship. You bring urgency, vision, and a bias for action to everything you do, setting the direction for your team and moving ideas from concept to launched experience at a pace that matches the speed of our business. You will hire and develop world-class designers, raise the bar on craft and execution, and integrate AI into the design process to accelerate delivery and unlock creative possibilities. You thrive in ambiguity, bring clarity to complex problems, and have a track record of influencing cross-functional partners to align on a shared vision and ship together.

You are a strategic thinker who can articulate a compelling design vision and translate it into a roadmap that your team can execute against. You know how to identify, attract, and grow exceptional design talent, creating an environment where designers do the best work of their careers. You are methodical in scaling design across multiple partners and iterating on process for efficiency. You are an excellent collaborator and have no problem presenting, and defending, your team"s ideas to other designers, product and marketing managers, and company leaders.

You set the direction and quality standard for your team"s output, ensuring every experience is grounded in deep customer understanding and executed with world-class craft. Above all, you are passionate about solving real problems for real people through research, design, and iteration. You will guide your team to create experiences that are engaging, useful, and solution-oriented, applying customer data and insights to tailor designs to customers" needs and pain points.

You"ve built and led teams that set the standard for design excellence, combining strategic vision with hands-on leadership, a command of visual principles, and keen attention to detail.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own the design delivery pipeline from concept through launch, ensuring the team ships high-quality payment and financial product experiences across portfolio.
    • Lead the team to design payment experiences that feel seamless, trustworthy, and additive to the shopping journey not disruptive; champion a customer-first approach to financial products
    • Establish a culture of urgency and accountability; remove blockers, streamline decision-making, and drive rapid iteration cycles to get experiences into market fast
    • Partner with Engineering and Product leaders to compress timelines, identify MVP scopes, and make smart trade-offs that balance speed with craft
    • Drive efficient, predictable delivery of design work; build repeatable processes that enable the team to ship fast without sacrificing quality
    • Measure and communicate the impact of shipped experiences, conversion rates, adoption metrics, payment completion rates, and customer sentiment and use those signals to inform what to build next- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of UX Designers, fostering a culture of craft excellence, experimentation, and customer obsession
    • Champion AI-powered design workflows integrating generative AI, automation, and intelligent tooling into the team"s creative process to increase efficiency, speed-to-market, and scalability
    • Translate business goals and technical constraints (payment processing requirements, regulatory compliance, security protocols, device form factors) into compelling, customer-centric design solutions that can be shipped incrementally
    • Balance long-term strategic bets (next-generation financial product experiences) with near-term delivery commitments; manage the team"s portfolio of work across multiple product surfaces with a bias toward action

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
