About the job

At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a UX Research Manager, you will help define and drive the future of Google design by clarifying strategy and conceptualizing UX ecosystems. You are an expert researcher, a visionary leader, and a fierce advocate for both users and your team.

You will be responsible for guiding the careers of your team members, helping them realize their full potential, and inspiring forward-thinking design. You are an expert in qualitative research methods-such as field studies, interviews, and diary studies-to shape product development and influence overall strategy. In this role, you will understand both the execution and business aspects of our products, collaborating with leaders across UX, Engineering, and Product Management to create innovative experiences, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.

As the UX Research Lead for Community and Live, you will be responsible for the user experience of how we connect this vibrant community together. You will also be responsible for leading the development of new formats and ways our audience connect and have conversations across all YouTube products.

In this role, you will drive a user-centered goal, influence cross-functional partners and hold a high bar for product excellence to deliver experiences for YouTube"s viewers and creators.

At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share, and build community through our stories. We work together to give everyone the power to share their story, explore what they love, and connect with one another in the process. Working at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and boundless creativity, we move at the speed of culture with a shared goal to show people the world. We explore new ideas, solve real problems, and have fun and we do it all together.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$329,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of four UX research individual contributors (ICs) and act as a consultant and thought partner to cross-functional leadership.
  • Drive a user-centered goal and establish depth of product/domain knowledge on key questions for Community and Live.
  • Oversee and participate in key processes including planning, dissemination, visioning, and co-design to deliver experiences.
  • Coach and grow team members while active in shaping team culture and supporting the discipline through AI transformation.
  • Conduct foundational research for YouTube users and team members.
