Description Amazon's Global Procurement Organization is on a mission to transform how procurement works at Amazon scale. We build the technology that powers billions of dollars in purchasing decisions, and we need a UX Research & Design Lead to shape the future of that experience. In this role, you will: - Lead end-to-end UX research and design for both external-facing and internal-facing procurement tools used across Amazon's global operations. - Conduct user research, usability studies, and data analysis to deeply understand customer needs and translate insights into design decisions. - Leverage AI and emerging technologies to simplify complex user journeys, drive efficiency, and reimagine how teams interact with procurement systems - Partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous, large-scale problems into intuitive experiences - You'll spend the majority of your time (75%) planning and conducting user research - from generative discovery through evaluative testing - to uncover how people understand, trust, and interact with AI systems. The remaining 25% of your time will be hands-on UX design work, translating research insights into interaction concepts, prototypes, and design artifacts. *Why you'll love it here:* Our team thinks big and moves fast. We're passionate about innovating on behalf of our customers and tackling problems at a scale few organizations ever encounter. We leverage AI in all aspects of our job and think creatively to create the right digital solutions to power procurement at Amazon. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives. Key job responsibilities - Plan and execute research studies using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods (usability testing, interviews, surveys, diary studies) to evaluate AI-driven features and inform product direction. - Conduct user journey mapping and define information architecture to simplify complex procurement workflows, ensuring intuitive navigation and seamless task completion. - Translate research findings into design concepts - creating wireframes, interaction flows, and low-to-mid fidelity prototypes that communicate proposed solutions to cross-functional partners. - Assess and optimize feature performance through research, A/B testing, and analysis of key metrics. - Champion the customer perspective by articulating pain points, surfacing unmet needs, and advocating for experiences that are transparent, explainable, and inclusive - particularly where AI decisions impact end users. About the Company

A

Amazon

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
