The purpose of the class is to operate heavy and/or specialized equipment in the maintenance and/or construction of County roads, water/sewer systems and stormwater systems and in support of other Public Works Operations; to maintain assigned equipment; and to perform other work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
Requires at least two (2) years of related work experience.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state CDL drivers license with appropriate endorsements.

Work is performed in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to my co-workers or others.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position; typical work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hour each week to maintain full-time status. Must be available to work holidays, weekends, and during emergencies. May respond to after hour emergencies as assigned. This is a safety sensitive position and employees holding this position have the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others. This position is subject to random drug testing.
