    Job Description

    Join the team in Minneapolis as a Vacuum Equipment Maintenance Techiman! In this role, you will Maintains/repairs, troubleshoots and adjust systems miscellaneous vacuum production equipment or systems as necessary by testing, replacing, repairing or modifying electronics or vacuum systems.

    this role will support 3rd shift*

    Sunday 10:00 pm- 6:00 am

    Monday 10:00 pm- 6:00 am

    Tuesday 10:00 pm- 6:00 am

    Wednesday 10:00 pm- 6:00 am

    Thursday 10:00 pm- 6:00 am

    Requirements

    • Two-Year Electronics Degree OR College Level equivalent courses
    • Ability to obtain Vacuum Maintenance Certificate after hiring

    Preferred

    • Vacuum Maintenance Technician Certificate

    not including any mandated overtime, and training may take place on different shift

    • Intro to Vacuum Technology, Vacuum Analysis & Troubleshooting, Thin Film Deposition, Fluid Mechanics, Principles of Chemistry, College Algebra and Probability, and one of the following: Topics in Nanotechnology or Electronics & Automation

    JOB DUTIES

    Troubleshoot and Maintain Equipment

    • Maintains/repairs, troubleshoots and adjust systems miscellaneous vacuum production equipment or systems as necessary by testing, replacing, repairing or modifying electronics or vacuum systems.
    • Utilize all types of instruments/gages necessary to accomplish required repair and/or adjustment. As necessary, may realign/set up/replace tools/parts in order to keep equipment performing to production requirements. May do incidental work in support of this function.
    • Must be familiar with various tools, machines, equipment and jobs in area.

    Check, Adjust, Calibrate

    • Check and adjust for pressure, alignment, tension, spacing, physical dimensions, outputs and adjustable parameters and record non-adjustable parameters.
    • Use a variety of manual and automated mechanical, electrical, optical and high vacuum measurement equipment.
    • Calculate raw data and adjust/calibrate components/assembly to achieve the final specifications required.

    Troubleshoot/Repair Mechanical

    • Check faulty assemblies using mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pressure equipment.
    • Analyze and diagnose findings to determine defects and method of repair.
    • Disassemble station, replace defective parts, readjust/reassemble devices to complete repairs.

    Communication

    • Meet with supervisor to plan work schedules and discuss potential problems with meeting schedules, quality, employee performance, etc.
    • Communicate as necessary with off shift personnel, Group Leaders and Supervisors in different departments.
    • May assist or instruct other Vacuum Maintenance Technicians or employees at lower labor grades.
    • Works with Engineering, Vacuum Lab personnel and other functional areas to resolve problems related to parts, supplies, equipment and/or processes.
    • Embrace and engage in activities, including Safety & Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), 5S, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), Tiered Accountability Process, Standard Work, Rapid Problem Solving (RPS), Built In Quality (BIQ)), Coaching Total productive Maintenance (TPM) and Knowledge Sharing.

    Working Environment

    • Light physical effort setting up electrical equipment in a group of inspectors who check light electrical parts. Lifts average to heavy weight material. Maybe required to work in awkward fatiguing positions.
    • Works in a clean room.
    • Required to wear digital beeper (or other communication device such as a cell phone) at work.
