Valve Hone / Finisher
Job Description/Duties
Performs flat lapping and deburring of metering edges. Sets up and operates internal hones and lapping equipment to produce a high-quality precision part. Sets up and operates equipment to produce precision holes.
Working Procedures
Works with a minimum amount of supervision.
Select correct types of mandrels, hones stones, lap arbors, laps and lapping compounds and maintain/recondition lapping equipment to meet required tolerances for roundness, straightness, size, and finish.
Work from blueprints, process sheets, sketches, models, specifications, test work sheets, and verbal/written instructions.
Set-up monochromatic light and quartz flats to check flatness within one light band.
Set-up and operate gaging equipment such as gage blocks, electronic comparators, plug gages, toolmaker's microscope, air columns, spindle and set rights, and dial bore indicators to inspect parts within required tolerances and ensure parts meet the requirements for finish, size, and clearance.
Set up, calibrate, and run Zeiss Rondcom CMM. Read CMM results and apply them to manufacturing match fit parts.
Set up, run, and make fine tuning adjustments to stroker hone CNC machine.
Set up and safely run collaborative robot.
Set up and make necessary adjustments to machines/equipment, as needed.
Handle parts with extreme care to protect established dimensions and finishes in accordance with established procedures.
Removes burrs and puts proper radii on parts, using burr lathes and related hand tools.
When necessary, instructs other employees.
Keeps machines, gaging, and work area clean and in good order.
Must have a good knowledge of shop mathematics, including decimals.
Participates in continuous improvement activities/efforts with the classification/department.
Shall be capable and shall be willing to perform all certified operator inspection requirements.
