THE POSITION
Wayne County Transportation Department is seeking qualified applicants for a position providing door-to-door transportation services to county residents. This role requires strong communication skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently while assisting individuals in accessing essential services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Enhance the mobility of consumers by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable and courteous manner. Operate county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day. This is an opportunity to provide transportation service as well as social contact for our consumers (includes senior adults and wheelchair-dependent persons). Chance to work independently. Excellent communication skills required, both person to person and via two-way radio. Willingness and patience to assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths. Ability to easily adjust in daily schedule. Must be a people-person as you will be providing important assistance and socialization throughout the day.

Perform vehicle maintenance and safety tasks to include, regularly check tires, turn signals, wipers, and horn; and fill to proper level such fluids as engine oil, brake fluid, radiator coolant, and battery water.
