We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Van Drivers specializing in transporting students with special needs. Responsibilities
- Safely operate school vans and paratransit vehicles designated for students with special needs, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Assist students on and off the vehicle, providing support as needed to ensure their comfort and safety
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and caregivers when necessary
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, ensuring mechanical functionality and cleanliness before and after each run
- Maintain accurate logs of student transportation records, including attendance and incident reports
- Follow behavior management protocols to address any student needs or concerns during transit
- Provide excellent customer service by creating a welcoming environment for students and their families
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Proven experience in working with children or adults with special needs is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for effective interaction with diverse families
- Knowledge of paratransit services, child safety protocols, and behavior management techniques
- Must remain calm under pressure
- Compassionate attitude with experience in childcare or senior care is advantageous
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and professionally while maintaining safety standards
- Must meet all background requirements & physical standards for school van drivers
