Job Title: Head Coach, Varsity Girls Water Polo Department: Athletics Reports To: Athletic Director / Principal Position Type: Stipended / Seasonal (Fall/Winter season depending on section rules)
Job Summary The Varsity Girls Water Polo Head Coach is responsible for the leadership, development, and overall administration of the girls water polo program. The ideal candidate will foster a competitive, safe, and positive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, academic success, and physical development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Program Leadership: Organize, supervise, and conduct all daily practices, conditioning sessions, and game-day strategies for the Varsity team while providing oversight to lower-level (JV/Frosh-Soph) programs.
Student-Athlete Development: Teach advanced water polo skills, tactics, and rules; promote teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic.
Safety & Supervision: Monitor student-athlete wellness during all water and dryland activities; ensure constant supervision in the pool area, locker rooms, and during team travel.
Administrative Management: Coordinate game schedules, bus transportation, and equipment inventory with the Athletic Director; manage the program budget and fundraising initiatives.
Communication: Maintain open and professional communication with student-athletes, parents, assistant coaches, school administration, and media.
Compliance: Enforce all school, school district, and CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) rules, regulations, and academic eligibility requirements.
Required Qualifications
Prior competitive water polo coaching experience (high school, club, or collegiate level) or extensive collegiate playing experience.
Deep knowledge of CIF rules, water polo strategies, and tournament structures.
