Position: Varsity Head Coachâ Boys Basketball
Location: Sussex Technical High School
Reports To: Athletic Director & School Principal
Starting Date: November 2026 â Winter Season
Qualifications:
Demonstrate a proficiency in the sport including governing rules, strategy, and skills.
Possess sound moral character.
Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the athlete, academics, and overall athletic and school program.
Possess CPR certification or willingness to become certified.
Complete DIAA rules clinic.
Experience as a field hockey player and coach preferred.
Experience working with high school aged students preferred.
Performance Responsibilities:
Plan and implement organized daily practice plans, which include time for group and individual instruction.
Demonstrate an understanding of safety considerations for athletes.
Work cooperatively with coaching assistants, athletic director, trainer, and building administration.
Adapt and modify coaching techniques, strategies, and game plans when appropriate.
Promote and maintain positive public relations with parents and the community.
Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and player conduct.
Prepare for each game in strategy and player motivation.
Comply with all HAC, DIAA, and school district policies.
Submit all required information (i.e.: rosters, reports, inventory, etc.) in a timely manner.
Communicate pre, post, and in-season information to players, parents, and school officials.
Maintain inventories of all equipment and uniforms.
Monitor and evaluate academic performance of all athletes.
Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
Assist in overseeing the safety of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted.
Perform other duties as assigned that relate to this position.
Terms of Employment: 1 Season
Salary Range: $3,500 - $7,017
