    Job Description

    MSD of Shakamak is seeking a passionate, student-centered leader to serve as the Varsity Softball Coach. We are looking for an individual committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field while fostering a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, discipline, and excellence.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the varsity softball program.
    • Teach and develop fundamental and advanced softball skills, strategies, and techniques.
    • Establish a positive team culture that promotes discipline, accountability, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
    • Promote student-athletes' academic success, leadership, character development, and personal growth.
    • Organize and conduct practices consistent with IHSAA regulations and district expectations.
    • Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, team travel, and other program activities.
    • Provide appropriate oversight and direction for assistant coaches and the development of the overall softball program.
    • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities and assist with inventory and program needs.
    • Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, staff, officials, and community members.
    • Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and school administration.
    • Comply with all MSD of Shakamak policies and procedures and all Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) rules and regulations.
    • Complete all required coaching certifications and professional development.

    Qualifications

    • Previous softball coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of the rules, strategies, techniques, and safety practices of competitive softball.
    • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high school student-athletes.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, officials, and community members.
    • Must successfully complete all district employment requirements, including a criminal background check.
    • Must meet all IHSAA coaching requirements and obtain all required certifications before the season begins.
