Position Summary
As a Vascular Access Specialist, you will:
- Assess patients and place vascular access devices (VADs) in a hospital setting
- Provide troubleshooting and education for existing VADs to customer staff
- Deliver services in compliance with Chesapeake Mobile Healthcare policies, medical orders, and industry standards
- Collaborate with our in-office team to ensure exceptional patient care
Note: A minimum of two years of experience placing VADs using ultrasound and ECG tip confirmation is required. Training is available for advanced procedures such as CVCs, mid-thigh catheters, and tunneling.
Primary Responsibilities
- Represent Chesapeake Mobile Healthcare professionally at all times
- Collaborate with patients, providers, and administrative staff to schedule visits
- Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to provide exceptional care
- Establish positive rapport with providers, caregivers, patients, and families
- Assess patient condition and verify provider orders for appropriate interventions
- Place VADs including PIV, extended dwell catheters, midline, PICC, CVC, and mid-thigh femoral catheters
- Perform catheter declots, port access, dressing changes, and other vascular access services
- Maintain current nursing licensure in all states of practice
- Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and infusion therapy standards of practice
- Complete initial and ongoing training and competencies
- Assist with staff orientation and training as needed
- Perform other nursing or administrative duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Unrestricted RN license in the state(s) of practice
- Minimum 2 years of experience placing PICC, Midline, and US-PIV with ECG tip confirmation
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet reliability standards
- Physical ability to push/pull 50+ lbs for patient positioning
