The Vascular surgeon will be required to have the following unique competencies:
- Open and endovascular AAA surgical repair.
- Dialysis access procedures.
- Diagnostic and Interventional angiography including mesenteric and peripheral vascular.
- Lower extremity bypass.
- Open and endovascular carotid surgery.
- Supervision/teaching of surgical residents.
- Providing consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards.
- Be responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, history and physicals, and admission of vascular surgery patients as needed.
- Participation in committees.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery or Chief of Staff.
Work Schedule: Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center. On-call responsibilities as required.
Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
