    Summary:

    Coordinate and perform diagnostic medical imaging procedures for the Department of Ultrasound; assisting the Radiologist utilizing a variety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, both fixed or mobile.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform a variety of high quality ultrasound procedures including all vascular studies under minimal supervision utilizing diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment. 
    • Documents calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment. 
    • Coordinates, organizes, plans and makes quick decisions on emergent cases; evaluates and acts to maintain efficiency and maximize productivity. 
    • Assists the Radiologist in performing invasive biopsy procedures using the Ultrasound system to pin point exact anatomical location(s) of a specified diseased area for specimen evaluation and diagnosis. 
    • Perform all vascular ultrasound exams requested. 
    • Ensures that all procedures are accurately charged and that all charges are turned in at the end of the day for correct billing. 
    • Ensures that the Ultrasound room is adequately supplied, check equipment and computer status for readiness, reports any problems that could change the work flow and make sure corrective actions are taken to ensure of work flow continuity. 
    • Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a way that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of persons served by the department. 
    • Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each person served.

    • Takes personal responsibility to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and standards as promulgated by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
    • Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary in the performance of assigned job duties.

    • Performs other duties as assigned. 

    Requirements:

    Education/Skills

    • Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiological Sciences, Ultrasound Technology, or other accepted and approved equivalent.

    Experience

    • One (1) year of experience in a clinical ultrasound setting is preferred.
    • Prefer one (1) year of experience performing the following exams:
    • Carotid Arteries
    • Upper Extremity veins
    • Lower Extremity veins
    • Upper Extremity arteries
    • Lower Extremity arteries
    • Abdominal Aorta
    • Aortic Hepatic and Porta flow systems
    • PW or CW insonation of cerebral arteries transcranially, and peripheral arteries.
    • Knowledge of plethysmography for arterial and venous circulation evaluation.

    Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

    • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is required.
    • Registration by the credentialing bodies for Ultrasound Technologists is Required
    • American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ultrasound) is Required
    • BLS is required
