Position Information

This is a paid, part-time, non-benefited position. Only VCSU students are eligible to be hired in this position. Unsolicited applications to this posting will NOT be considered or responded to. If desired, this position can also be a paid internship for credit through VCSU.

Title: Student Assistant for VCSU Marketing and Communications

Department: Public Relations/Marketing

Reports to: Director for Public Relations

Pay: $11/hour

Position Summary:

VCSU Public Relations/Marketing is looking for a student to help with campus marketing during the 2026-27 school year. This position can be used as a for-credit internship, and can be tailored to suit your strengths, interests or future career path. Well take a jack-of-all-trades, or someone who wants to specialize in some of the areas below.

  • Create fun Tik Tok videos or develop other social media content.

  • Write feature stories, news releases or student profiles.

  • Design eye-catching promotional items or social media graphics.

  • Shoot and edit photos.

  • Film and edit video.

  • Produce live video broadcasts for campus events.

  • Create web content for www.vcsu.edu.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Work as a member of the Public Relations/Marketing Office to promote VCSU students, employees and the entire university
  • This position can be tailored to the students strengths/interests and could include duties related to social media, graphic design, writing, photography and video.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • VCSU student
  • Work 5-10 hours/week, flexible schedule
  • Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Training, software and equipment will be provided
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills and desire to be a team player.
  • Use common courtesy in working with students, employees, and the public.
  • Good organization and time management skills.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to move about.
