VCSU Student Maintenance & Grounds Assistant (Admin Only)

Position Information

Position Summary

Valley City State University is seeking dependable, hardworking students to join the Facilities Services team as Student Maintenance Assistants. This position supports campus grounds and maintenance operations to help maintain a safe, functional, and attractive campus environment

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist with campus grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, landscaping, planting, watering, and leaf removal.
• Support seasonal operations such as snow removal and storm cleanup.
• Perform light building maintenance tasks, including painting, moving furniture, changing light bulbs, and assisting with minor repairs.
• Help with campus event setups and teardown activities.
• Operate grounds equipment, hand tools, and power tools following safety procedures.
• Report maintenance and safety concerns to supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of campus operations.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a VCSU student.
• Valid drivers license preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Maintenance, landscaping, construction, farm, or equipment experience is helpful but not required.

Hours

• Monday through Friday, between 7am-4pm
• Flexible scheduling available
• Up to 40 hours per week during summer and breaks; limited hours during academic semesters (20 hours/week).
