At Holland Construction Services, the VDC Field Engineer will be responsible for supporting Operations, Preconstruction, and Business Development with field layout, laser scanning, and drone operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Operates and manages laser scanners, robotic total station layout, and drones across multiple projects.
  • Provides Field VDC operations support with multiple projects.
  • Provides layout of site, topography, boundary, buildings, maintains control, and internal building components.
  • Performs 3D laser scans to provide point cloud models of existing buildings, existing conditions, and verifying conditions vs BIM models.
  • Identifies site and model discrepancies and works with project teams for corrective actions.
  • Performs point cloud registration from conducting 3D Laser Scan.
  • Collaborates with VDC team for using the latest BIM coordinated files.
  • Works with VDC Managers and Engineers with project coordination.
  • Uses 2D CAD and 3D models for creating and confirming point layouts for RTS layout.
  • Operates drone flights for project documentation, site maps, progress photos, and quality verification across all projects.
  • Coordinates and manages drone flights with project teams and pilots.
  • Schedules and coordinates site visits for layout, laser scanner, and drone operations.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Typically requires an associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related degree and 1-4+ years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and/or
  • FAA Part 107 Certification or pilot license
  • Familiarity and experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and similar software.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The physical demands for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the VDC Field Engineer include the ability to lift and/or move items of various sizes and weights and move safely about an office and a jobsite environment during all phases of construction, which may require the VDC Field Engineer to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or otherwise move safely through small/enclosed spaces.
  • The working conditions of the VDC Field Engineer are generally in a jobsite environment but will involve office activities The position may occasionally be exposed to extreme noises and temperatures/weather, hazardous materials, gases/fumes, asbestos, carcinogens, and space restrictions
