POSITION TITLE: VDC Lead
Departments: Virtual Design & Construction (VDC)
Reports to: VDC Manager
Direct Reports: VDC Specialist (as assigned)
Position Overview
The VDC Lead is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) efforts in support of Concrete Strategies’ self-perform concrete operations. This role bridges the gap between design intent and field execution by leveraging 3D and 4D modeling to improve constructability, sequencing, safety, and production efficiency.
As a technical and operational leader, the VDC Lead partners closely with estimating, project management, and field teams to deliver accurate, construction-driven models that support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle—from pursuit and preconstruction through active construction. This role also plays a key part in advancing CSI’s VDC standards, workflows, and best practices, while mentoring junior VDC team members and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Translate design intent into constructible, execution-ready models that reflect concrete means, methods, sequencing, access, and production constraints
Integrate project schedules into models (4D) to support phasing strategies, pour sequencing, logistics planning, and visual communication with field teams
Develop and maintain accurate model-based quantity takeoffs to support estimating, procurement, cost control, and change management
Create visual tools, dashboards, and model-based deliverables to support internal decision-making, client presentations, and pursuit efforts
Lead and participate in coordination meetings with General Contractors, designers, and trade partners to identify clashes, resolve conflicts, and drive constructability solutions
Proactively identify constructability, sequencing, and risk issues through model analysis and collaborate with project teams to implement solutions before they impact the field
Serve as the primary VDC point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring alignment between VDC efforts, project goals, and field execution
Partner closely with estimating, project management, and operations teams to ensure models support real-world construction planning and productivity
Support field teams by providing clear, accurate visualizations and model extracts that enhance understanding, communication, and execution
Contribute to the development, refinement, and enforcement of VDC standards, workflows, and best practices across the organization
Mentor and support junior VDC team members, providing technical guidance, quality oversight, and professional development support
Stay current with VDC, BIM, and construction technology trends, tools, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
