The City of Greensboro's Creative Greensboro office is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and technically skilled professional to serve as the VDPS Operations Specialist for the Van Dyke Performance Space (VDPS) within the Greensboro Cultural Center. About the Role

The VDPS Operations Specialist is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing operations for the Van Dyke Performance Space within the Greensboro Cultural Center. This position supports front-of-house operations, rental coordination, technical production support, and event logistics to ensure successful performances and community events.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and supporting day-to-day operations of the Van Dyke Performance Space
  • Assisting renters, performers, artists, and community groups with event logistics and operational needs
  • Operating professional lighting consoles and sound systems during performances and events
  • Supporting lighting, audio, rigging, and technical production needs
  • Troubleshooting technical equipment issues during live events while maintaining professionalism under pressure
  • Preparing and managing rental agreements and operational documentation
  • Coordinating event schedules and maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting safe-stage operations and maintaining industry-standard safety practices
  • Assisting with front-of-house operations and customer service for events
  • Ensuring facility policies and operational standards are upheld

This position requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on event schedules.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years of experience operating professional lighting consoles and sound systems in a live performance environment

  • (Equivalency) Associate's degree plus 3 -5 years of experience operating professional lighting consoles and sound systems in a live performance environment

  • (Equivalency) High School Diploma plus 5-7 years of experience operating professional lighting consoles and sound systems in a live performance environment

  • (Equivalency) No High school diploma/GED plus 7 or more years of experience operating professional lighting consoles and sound systems in a live performance environment

  • Experience with mixing boards, amplifiers, microphone placement, and Signal flow

  • Ability to troubleshoot lighting and audio equipment during live events

  • Familiarity with rigging, cable management, and Safe-stage electrical practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Theatre Management or Technical Theater Operations
  • Experience with ETC/Eos family of lighting consoles
  • 2-4 years of customer service experience
  • Experience supporting live performances and cultural events in a public or community setting
