Responsibilities - Purchase quality used vehicles directly from private-party sellers and the general public.
- Identify vehicles that fit our dealership's inventory needs and Acura Certified/Pre-Owned strategy.
- Inspect and appraise vehicles for mechanical condition, cosmetic condition, history, equipment, and marketability. Research vehicle history, market values, auction data, and current retail pricing.
- Determine an accurate acquisition value and negotiate purchase prices with vehicle owners.
- Build relationships with private sellers and develop a strong pipeline of potential vehicle purchases.
- Respond to online leads and inquiries from people interested in selling their vehicles.
- Conduct in-person vehicle appraisals and purchase transactions.
- Work closely with our Used Vehicle, Sales, Service, and Management teams to ensure acquired vehicles meet dealership standards.
- Monitor the local market and identify opportunities to acquire desirable, hard-to-find, or high-demand vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of appraisals, purchases, vehicle costs, and acquisition activity.
- Help ensure the dealership consistently has the right mix of high-quality pre-owned inventory.
Qualifications - A strong negotiator who knows how to buy, not just sell. Knowledgeable about automobiles, vehicle values, and the used-car market.
- Comfortable inspecting vehicles and identifying potential mechanical or cosmetic issues.
- Confident dealing directly with customers and private-party sellers.
- Personable, professional, and trustworthy.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Comfortable using technology, online vehicle valuation tools, auction data, and CRM systems.
- Competitive and motivated by results.
- Able to make sound decisions quickly while protecting the dealership's investment.
- Automotive Experience
- Prior automotive experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience in:
- Used vehicle sales or management Vehicle appraisal
- Automotive wholesale or purchasing Dealership sales
- Auction buying
- Automotive service or repair Private-party vehicle transactions
- However, we will consider an exceptional candidate who has a strong automotive background, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven ability to evaluate and purchase vehicles.
- WA state driver's license is required
- Clean & Clear WA state driving record is required
- Pre-employment background check, reference check & drug screen is required
