JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicles, equipment and vehicle parts using hand tools and power tools. Diagnoses automotive and equipment failures for long-term corrective action that can/may involve investigative and research techniques.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose automotive failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective action. Involves researching defective mechanically- controlled items/parts, instructional information to complete the repair process when needed. This entails logical and extensive troubleshooting and referring to technical manuals, technical library and the CCMS system while utilizing a systematic approach.
  • Perform repairs or replacement as needed to meet or exceed manufacturer requirements.
  • Performs preventative maintenance work, e.g. visual inspections, lubricate, change fluids, change filters, change wiper blades, adjust belts, etc.
  • Change or repair pneumatic tires on equipment.
  • Requisition of parts from the storeroom for materials needed to perform PM’s and repairs
  • Reports all materials used in performance of repairs on work orders. Document all labor used in performance of repairs on work orders
  • Perform modifications to vehicles as directed.
  • Maintains shop cleanliness.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SCOPE:

Includes all facets of vehicle repairs including gasoline, diesel, or electric drives. Our scope also includes the maintenance and repair/replacement of tires used on these vehicles.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required.
  • Technical school is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years vehicle mechanic experience is required
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • ASE Certification is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Also required to attain CDL within first 90-days of employment (before end of probationary period).
