JOB DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction of the Operations Managers, the Ambulance Equipment Officer is responsible for the overall condition of field vehicles. They will enforce company policies; adhere to all State Health and Safety Codes, Title 22, Department of Health Services, California Highway Patrol, and other licensing agencies as required. The Ambulance Equipment Officer is responsible for cleaning and performing daily vehicle equipment checks. Assuring that all company vehicles meet the requirements for field ambulances to be Inservice according to the requirements set forth by the California Highway Patrol, Los and Orange counties EMS agencies and Los Angeles Department of Transportation guidelines. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensuring the cleanliness of the ambulance and all kits on a daily basis and verifying the supplies are complying with various licensing agencies.Maintaining all ambulances and all associated bags and equipment are in a state of response readiness and ensuring each ambulance complies with First Rescue Ambulance standards and LA County/Orange County requirements.Maintaining medical supplies at par levels and monitoring the inventory of supplies and equipmentFollowing the maintenance schedule for each ambulance and or piece of equipment by tracking mileage, hours, or due dates. In order to keep each vehicle and piece of equipment in compliance with the maintenance schedule you will be required to:Understand warranties and ambulance conversion for each vehicleTake ambulances to various locations for maintenance and repairUnderstand each vehicle's conversion specificationsAn understanding of vehicle warranties Perform any light maintenance on vehicles such as changing bulbs, topping off fluids, tightening of screwsUpdate all maintenance and work performed in Traumasoft on a daily basisCreate and maintain a professional relationship with managers and staff at various repair facilities and suppliersReviewing vehicle checklists completed by EMT's on a daily basis and correcting any issues noted on the checklist.Tracking damage of vehicles utilizing "Vehicle Damage" spreadsheet and reporting new damage to managementNotifying management on a daily basis of any ambulances not in compliance with end of shift guidelines for EMS staffAssisting management with licensing of vehicles and driving vehicles to various licensing agencies for inspectionTaking equipment to and from stations, crews, and repair shops such as gurneys, stair chairs, medical equipment, oxygen, etc. on an as needed basisAssisting with training field staff to ensure compliance with First Rescue vehicle usage standardsUtilizing Traumasoft to record all vehicle maintenance, licenses, and review of checklistsUsing established spreadsheets for inventory and equipmentHelp maintain company inventory listsEmailing daily report to managementHelp maintain office appearance and cleanlinessHandy repairs around the station and offices.Other tasks, responsibilities and projects as assigned by management.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Must possess a valid California Driver's licenseMust possess a valid Ambulance Drivers certificateMust possess a valid Healthcare Provider Level CPR/AED Basic Life Support Certification Must maintain all certifications and licensesMust possess excellent written and verbal communication skillsMust maintain a flexible scheduleMust demonstrate successful clearance in a criminal background checkMust successfully pass drug and alcohol screeningMust have at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experienceHigh school diploma or GED. Field experience Helpful. California Driver's License and acceptable driving record required. Must have the ability to interact with hospital and other agency representatives in developing service. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work all shifts and varied shifts.
