Vehicle Technician (Engineering-Focused Fleet Operations)Location: San Francisco, CAJob Type: Full-Time | ContractPay Rate: $46.00–$50.00/hourWork Environment: In-PersonAbout the roleWe are looking to hire an experienced Vehicle Technician to support fleet readiness, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair operations.This role is ideal for an engineering-focused automotive technician with strong mechanical and diagnostic experience who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented workshop environment. You will help ensure fleet vehicles are safe, operational, and ready for on-road testing and demonstrations.Available ShiftsFirst Shift- Sunday–Thursday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM- Tuesday–Saturday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM- Thursday–Monday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PMSecond Shift- Tuesday–Saturday | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM- Thursday–Monday | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM- Saturday–Wednesday | 2:00 PM–10:30 PMKey Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and fleet reworks- Configure, test, and sign off vehicles for safe on-road operation- Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled service inspections- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and vehicle system issues- Escalate complex technical issues to engineering teams when needed- Coordinate repairs from diagnosis through resolution- Develop and execute diagnostic test plans- Maintain detailed service documentation and quality reports- Support fleet readiness for testing and demonstrations- Organize shop tools, equipment, and workspaces- Assist with inventory management, parts organization, and logistics- Travel locally as needed to support fleet operationsRequired Qualifications- 2–4+ years of automotive technician or fleet maintenance experience- Strong knowledge of automotive repair methods, tools, diagnostics, and vehicle systems- Experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record- Ability to pass background check, MVR check, and drug screening- Forklift and/or gantry operation experience required- Current forklift certification compliant with Cal/OSHA standards- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods- Strong written and verbal communication skills- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment- Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team playerPreferred Qualifications- Experience in automotive engineering labs, research environments, Dyno labs, or battery testing facilities- Knowledge of CAN bus systems, wiring diagrams, and soldering- Experience towing trailers or transporting fleet vehicles- Technical trade school certification or Associate Degree in Automotive Technology- Ability to travel locally and occasionally nationallyIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on automotive professional with experience in fleet maintenance, diagnostics, vehicle repair, and workshop operations.
