Overview

The Vermont Emergency Management (VEM) Regional Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, planning, training, exercising, and research work involving emergency operations and management. This position will work in conjunction with regional and national emergency response initiatives and will serve Caledonia, Essex, & Orleans counties.

Duties involve coordination and extensive interaction with Public Safety and Emergency Management personnel along with federal, state and local government officials. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Engagement Section Chief with considerable independence of action and accountability for assigned activities and projects.

This is a home-based position which requires the Coordinator it to live within one hour of the region served, as the individual will work out of their home and perform extensive travel within the region. A valid drivers license is required to hold this position.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting with significant local and regional travel to numerous meetings and trainings expected. This position requires regular performance outside of normal hours. On-call status may be required. During disaster circumstances, may be called upon to travel to and assist local municipalities in adverse environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in emergency management, homeland security, or related field AND three (3) years or more of experience in emergency preparedness or response, which includes experience with delivering trainings to adults.

OR

Five (5) years or more of experience in emergency preparedness or response, which includes experience with delivering trainings to adults.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in administration, planning, or development of emergency management programs and/or policy.

Special Requirements

Valid driver''s license.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Applicants are subject to a security clearance by the Department of Public Safety.
