We are seeking an experienced VERTICAL CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR for a full-time position located in Dallas, Texas.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in vertical building construction, with a strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, and quality control processes across commercial or institutional projects.

Position Summary
The Vertical Construction Inspector will be monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, building codes, safety standards, and project specifications. This role supports the successful delivery of new school construction, renovations, and facility upgrades, including coordination across structural, architectural, and MEP systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements
  • Monitor new construction and renovation work across school facilities, including:
    • Structural systems
    • Architectural finishes
    • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Building envelope and life safety systems
  • Observe and document daily construction activities, progress, and deficiencies
  • Identify and report non-conforming work and track corrective actions
  • Review and verify contractor work for quality, completeness, and compliance
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, contractors, and design teams to resolve field issues
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and site walkthroughs
  • Monitor contractor adherence to safety standards and site protocols
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports and inspection logs
  • Support punch list development and project closeout activities
  • Assist in verifying completion of work prior to acceptance

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in vertical construction inspection or related field
  • Experience inspecting commercial, institutional, or educational facilities
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes and safety regulations
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work in active construction environments
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Certifications
  • ICC (International Code Council) Building Inspector Certification
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Certifications or experience related to:
    • MEP Systems
    • HVAC Systems
    • Facilities or Building Inspections

Work Environment:
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving machinery & mechanical parts, uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to loud noise, and outside weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
  • The physical requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Intermittent unassisted sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, pushing and lifting is required. Must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time for at least eight hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, ability to walk on uneven ground while physically maneuvering construction sites, ability to work in extreme temperatures or humidity, and potentially work at heights.
Other Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected. Short term, out of town, assignments may be required. Long term, out of town, assignments may be required, with advance notice of planned dates.
  • May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet client's needs, including nights, overtime and weekends.
