The Port of Seattle is committed to assisting military personnel departing active-duty service transition to civilian employment. The Veteran's Fellowship Program is designed to provide short term (6 months) employment that will assist veterans selected for the program in the following areas:
+ Identifying transferable skills
+ Exposure to a civilian work environment
+ Career assistance
+ Exposure to corporate business practices
+ Mentoring
+ Resume and interview assistance
As a Capital Asset Data & GIS Specialist, you will develop and update geospatial asset data, dashboards, and a shared operating picture that support oversight, situational awareness, and informed decision-making.
+ You will develop, manage, and update capital asset datasets within ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other connected GIS solutions.
+ You will build and maintain data connections to ensure accurate, up to date geospatial asset information.
+ You will identify gaps in asset data and resolve them through field collection, validation, or coordination with internal teams.
+ You will ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility across geospatial layers and related systems.
+ You will support organizational decision making by maintaining reliable geospatial information for analysis and planning.
Who you are:
+ A Veteran – You have a minimum of three (3) years of active duty or mobilized reserve duty service in a branch of the U.S. Military Service (which includes the United States Coast Guard). Documentation of an honorable discharge from active or reserve status must be presented as part of the application process. Veterans Fellowship applicants must be within twenty-four (24) months of discharge to apply for a fellowship unless they have not worked full-time since their discharge and/or have been a full-time student in a degree or certification program since their discharge.
+ Desired – You have some experience working with ESRI ArcGIS applications or solutions, basic familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software, and/or working with facility systems/equipment lifecycle management.

+ Knowledgeable – You are familiar with airport facility and operations management as well as geospatial data management including collection, maintenance, and development of maps.
+ Analytical – You are capable of evaluating asset conditions and supporting cost estimating for infrastructure and facility needs.
+ Technically Skilled – You have technical skills in utilizing design and asset-related tools.
What else you need to know:
+ Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
+ Work Environment – You will generally work in an office environment.
+ Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than six months.
+ Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
+ Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you will/must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
+ Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
