The Role
- Provide emergency triage, stabilization, diagnostics, and critical care for small animal patients
- Manage ICU inpatients and develop individualized treatment plans
- Perform common ER procedures and interpret point-of-care diagnostics
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners and referring veterinarians
- Collaborate closely with specialty teams to guide advanced case workups
- Lead and support technical staff to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care
- Locum/relief scheduling with options for days, overnights, weekends, and holidays based on service needs
Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
- Active Virginia veterinary license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- ER experience or completion of a rotating or ER-focused internship preferred
- Strong emergency medicine, critical care, and client communication skills
- Comfortable in a high-volume, fast-paced environment; committed to AAHA-level standards
- DEA registration (or readiness to obtain)
