Job Description

An established small-animal hospital in Houston, TX is seeking an Associate Veterinarian, offering up to $180,000. This opportunity pairs a varied caseload with modern facilities and strong team support.

The Hospital
This is a full-service, community-focused practice providing routine wellness care, dentistry, general surgery, diagnostic imaging, and same-day/urgent appointments. The hospital features:
- A collaborative, team-based environment with licensed/credentialed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, dedicated client service staff, kennel/boarding attendants, groomers, and on-site management
- In-house diagnostics including digital radiography, ultrasound, ECG/monitoring, dental radiography, and a full laboratory for rapid results
- A dedicated surgical suite with anesthesia monitoring, plus post-operative and intensive-care support
- On-site boarding and grooming with climate-controlled spaces and structured care routines
- Modern client tools such as online scheduling, a patient portal for refills and communication, wellness plan options, and a virtual waiting system for urgent visits
- A steady mix of wellness, sick, urgent care, and surgical cases, supported by a substantial, loyal client base and strong local reviews
- Mentorship available for new graduates, with a culture that values teaching, teamwork, and continuous learning
- A full-time, four 10-hour day schedule with a shared weekend rotation to encourage work-life balance

The Role
- Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care for dogs and cats across wellness, illness, and urgent presentations
- Utilize in-house diagnostics and imaging to develop timely, evidence-based treatment plans
- Perform general soft-tissue surgeries and dental procedures, with appropriate anesthesia and monitoring protocols
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnostics, treatment options, preventive care, and follow-up
- Collaborate closely with credentialed technicians and support staff to optimize patient outcomes and workflow
- Contribute to a low-stress, safety-first handling approach for patients and team members
- Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and support hospital protocols
- Participate in a shared weekend rotation and a four 10-hour day schedule

Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent from an accredited institution
- License to practice (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Texas
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset
